Religious leaders of Jesus' day taught the people to obey over 300 'laws' that they would say were God's laws. In fact, God gave only 10 Laws or Commandments for the people to obey. These leaders were very zealous about keeping the 'laws' yet missed the whole point of the Law...to show us our sin and inability to keep the Law thus turning our hearts and minds to God for help through faith. When Jesus came and began preaching the good news of His coming, all the religious leaders sought to get rid of Him for what they thought was blasphemy. Jesus showed them and us that the only way to get to God the Father was through faith in Jesus: His life, His death, and His resurrection.Jesus went against the grain of His day.
