Outdoor Photographer Contest

Here are three pictures that I submitted to Outdoor Photographer magazine for their 3rd Annual Nature's Colors contest.  A ton of other entries, but I liked these three.  Let me know what you think and vote for my pictures!

There is a beautiful family of hawks that live on the course by hole #12.  Bring a hard hat to look at them because mom and dad like to dive bomb anyone that gets close to their two babies.

Have you ever stopped to ponder just how small we are in the bigger picture of this world, this universe? Have you gone beyond that and really thought about just how big a God would have to be to create something unmeasurable? The Bible gives us a faint picture of just how big our God is..."Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span,..." (Isaiah 40:12a) God can hold our universe in the palm of His hand...the span of His hand.

God is big and we are small, but we are not created to live in our smallness alone. Just as the desert plants produce seeds in clusters for survival, believers are to live in community with one another as well. How do believers survive living in this fallen world? By the grace of God, the guideance of His Word, through the forgiveness of sin by Jesus' death and resurrection, and by the power of the Holy Spirit who endwells us. Also by serving the Lord in community with other believers so that we can help each other and pray for each other and go with each other as we reach this world for Christ.

Are we living in community or are we trying to survive alone without help in a parched land?

Going Against The Grain

Religious leaders of Jesus' day taught the people to obey over 300 'laws' that they would say were God's laws. In fact, God gave only 10 Laws or Commandments for the people to obey. These leaders were very zealous about keeping the 'laws' yet missed the whole point of the Law...to show us our sin and inability to keep the Law thus turning our hearts and minds to God for help through faith. When Jesus came and began preaching the good news of His coming, all the religious leaders sought to get rid of Him for what they thought was blasphemy. Jesus showed them and us that the only way to get to God the Father was through faith in Jesus: His life, His death, and His resurrection.



Jesus went against the grain of His day.
